American football was based on European football. What you call Soccer was actually invented first, and called Football, in the 1800´s. Americans later adapted a version of it to the form you know and gave it the same name. Henceforth, it was known as American Football. When European Football reached America, they couldn´t use the same name so they called it Soccer.I´m american, but facts are facts. Get yours straight.
